About us
Our story
In 1983, missionary Paul Clark traveled with his family from Oklahoma to Colombia, sent by Tulsa Baptist Temple Church with the vision of establishing churches for the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ; a vision Paul called “Colombia for Christ.” The work began that year with Bible studies in homes. Through natural connections, new families soon joined. In February 1985, the group came together as a body, as a local church, for the first time. The work that God has allowed us to carry out began with this group of fifty people, who shaped the church through home Bible studies. Today, the church has more than five hundred members, most of whom faithfully attend services in an atmosphere of love and openness to hearing biblical teachings. We believe that the heart of the ministry is biblical discipleship, and that by building up each believer and leading them through a process of Christian maturity, God's plan for His church is fulfilled. It is our desire to glorify the Father by making disciples of Christ of all nations. As a church, we exist to fulfill the Great Commission that the Lord Jesus Christ gave to His bride, the Church.
Our pastor
Rodolfo Garrido was born in Bogotá on July 20, 1962, the son of Gilberto and María Helena Garrido. He studied at Colegio Refous in Bogotá until the sophomore year of high school, and finished high school in Medellín at Colegio San José de la Salle. He graduated in 1986 with a degree in Civil Engineering from Bradley University (Peoria, Illinois). He returned to Colombia, and in 1989, he accepted an invitation from a friend in our church and was deeply moved by her Christian testimony. Shortly afterward, after hearing the preaching of the Word of God, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He grew within the structure of our church and entered the church's Leadership Training School. He was called by the Lord to the ministry, became a youth leader, and was ordained as pastor of the church in 1996. We have been greatly challenged and edified by God through Rudy, as we affectionately call him, by his proclamation and teaching of books such as Acts, Colossians, Romans, Malachi, Ruth, Jude, John, Ephesians, and others. Expository preaching of the Word of God and the vision of 'Colombia for Christ: a launchpad to the nations' are his passion. Rudy married Rocío, and they have three children: Daniel, Sara, and Ana María; who have been a blessing, a challenge, and a model family for us.
